Step 1 – Diagnosis and decision making
After gathering all the information via oral x-rays our specialist dentist investigates and assesses the treatment options that would be best for you. The advantages and disadvantages of the various solutions are openly discussed with you so that you are well-informed before you make a decision. There is no pressure – we will take the time you need to work through this so you are confident before treatment starts.
Step 2 – Implantation – Implant anchoring to your Jaw
The implant or artificial root is inserted under local anaesthetic – Our specialist will create a suitable bed in the jaw bone for the implant to be inserted – depending on the case, a temporary crown or restoration may be placed on top during the healing stage – this could allow you to have a natural looking smile early on in the process.
Step 3 – Healing Phase – the implant bonds with your bone
The implant will bond with your jawbone. A healing phase of 6 weeks to a few months is needed – this time could be reduced using implants with specialist surfaces like SLActive – after just one week, any stitches used will be removed – you will need to be diligent with your oral hygiene to make sure your falling phase is successful – we will b able to advise you all the way through this.
Step 4 – Your new teeth are produced in a dental lab
In the meantime – while you are healing, we will get the tooth crown made especially for you. to match in with your other teeth by a specialised dental lab that will take their time crafting it to perfection.
Step 5 – Placement of the final restoration teeth
Once the healing phase is over, your final restoration is connected to the implant root – it will then give you the freedom to smile, bit and chew again.
Step 6 – Aftercare – oral hygiene as usual
Once healed, the implant is part of your body, and just like a natural tooth, it will require regular checkups and plenty of oral hygiene. With good care, your implant can be maintained for decades.
